What is CST – CranioSacral Therapy?
CranioSacral Therapy(CST)is a gentle manual therapy that relaxes the CNS(central nervous system)to facilitate self- healing. By enhancing the flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) throughout the CranioSacral System (membrane lining the skull and surrounding the brain and dural tube within the spinal cord), the nerves are nourished and washed, thus allowing the body to relax and expend its internal energy on self correction.
CranioSacral Therapy identifies motion restrictions within and uses light pressure to invite the tissue to make a natural self-correction. CranioSacral Therapy also gently encourages the fascia, or fabric of the body to make self adjustments thus treating the source of the problem instead of the symptoms.
CranioSacral Therapy is NOT magic, voodoo or a random energy treatment. It is based on physics and clinical scientific theory.
CranioSacral Therapy was developed using principals and techniques of cranial osteopathy by Dr. John E. Upledger,OMM, a doctor of Osteopathy, in the early 70’s. CST is taught and practiced worldwide. The Upledger Institute and Foundation is headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens Florida.
